Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains

It The project aimed to train 60 leaders from 30 cocoa cooperatives on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Productivity Enhancement Programmes (PEPs), and the African Regional Standard – 1000 (ARS-1000) to enhance sustainable cocoa farming practices.

Implemented by the Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network (RAIN), the project conducted Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops in the Nyinahin and Nkawie Cocoa Districts, followed by cooperative-level follow-ups to ensure knowledge dissemination. As a result, cocoa farmers gained a deeper understanding of international regulations, improving compliance and sustainability.

The objectives of the action are to:

  1. To provide training on European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), Productivity Enhancement Programmes (PEPs), and the African Regional Standard – 1000 (ARS-1000) to 60 leaders from 30 cocoa cooperatives selected.
  2. To ensure that the trained cooperative leaders share the knowledge with the cocoa farmers in their respective cooperatives.

Specific activities under the projects are:

  1. As part of the project’s activities, Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network (RAIN) held Traning of Trainers (ToT) workshops for cocoa cooperatives leaders in the Nyinahin and Nkawie Cocoa Districts.
  2. Follow-ups were conducted to cooperatives to ensure information from ToT was disseminated by representatives.
