It was an exciting moment to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child 2023 dubbed “Invest in Girls’ rights, Our Leadership, Our wellbeing” with the girls of Dwease M/A JHS and Bomiresu D/A Basic Schools in the Asante Akim Central District of the Ashanti Region. Mrs. Doreen Asumang Yeboah (Executive Director of RAIN) in her address stated that every girl has the right to quality education, healthcare and gender equality to fulfill their dreams. This could be achieved by ensuring that information, services and systems are easily accessible and adolescent friendly to the girl child.

The girl child is special and unique so therefore, it is time to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and eliminate intimidation so as to provide an avenue where girls could be recognized, celebrated and supported into leadership roles. She urged the girls to focus on their academic and skills education, obey their teachers and parents and be conscious of their reproductive health to avoid the occurrence of teenage pregnancies which disrupts their social and economic development.

The celebration was climaxed with presentation of exercise books, reading books and refreshment to the girls in these schools.
