See & Experience A New Perspective Of Life

Rights and Advocacy Initiatives Network (RAIN), is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization registered under the laws of Ghana with number CG 127702019. The organization was founded in 2019 by experts with background in natural resource management, human rights advocacy and development. The purpose of establishing RAIN is to employ expertise in relevant fields to address challenges within agriculture and environmental sector in Ghana, and contribute to the global agenda of environmental sustainability and human development.

Over the years, lack of inclusiveness of some actors, e.g. women and marginalized groups, in decision making processes regarding natural resources management especially at local communities level, often militates against efforts towards sustainable development goals.

Through the non-involvement of such people in decision making on processes that affect their lives and livelihood, their perspectives, opinions and concerns are not considered. This further entrench the vulnerability of these actors as they mostly lose their rights to resources making them poorer; a situation which impacts negatively on attainment of no poverty, zero hunger, gender equality, responsible consumption and production, climate action and other goals of Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030).

Poverty, limited livelihood options, lack of knowledge on emerging trends coupled with apathy leads to destruction of natural resources including forests, land and water bodies in the quest to make a living. Realizing the value of inclusive participation, RAIN works to ensure that the voice of all relevant stakeholders including women, landless farmers and the youth, is heard and considered in the national environmental, political and socio-economic development process. Ultimately, our natural resources will be sustained for the greater good of current and future stakeholders.
